Oregon Zoo, where Eddie lived, affirmed he had been dead on Thursday morning following a decrease in his wellbeing.

Eddie was believed to be one of the most seasoned of his species on the planet. The creature picked up fans the world over five years back when an online video demonstrated him hammer dunking a toy ball through a smaller than expected loop. His zoo says they prepared the maturing creature in the game to help with joint inflammation in his joints.

“Male ocean otters rarely live past 15 years, so Eddie was among the exceptionally most seasoned of his sort,” Amy Cutting, who directs the zoo’s marine life region, said in an announcement.

In their tribute, the zoo said his off camera practice routine video had made him “a standout amongst the most renowned creatures on the web”.

The otter was initially safeguarded from the wild as a stranded little guy in California in 1998.

He was restored at a Monterey aquarium, before being exchanged to Oregon Zoo two years after the fact.

The Portland Trailblazers, Eddie’s neighborhood ball group, updated his activity band with their group logo for his twentieth birthday celebration.

In tweets following his passing, the group paid tribute to their “textured companion” who they depicted as a “genuine envoy” for otters and the game of ball.
